Biography

Dr. Xingming Fan, is a scientist of maize genetics and breeding, a professor of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (YAAS), and serve as director general of Institute of Food Crops (IFC). He received his PhD degree from Agronomy & Biological College, China Agricultural University in 2007. Fan has engaged in maize genetics and breeding more than twenty years since 1988 and has led more than 50 state and provincial major projects. He developed a succession of totally 22 new hybrids with improved yield potential, good quality, disease resistance, and broad adaptation. It is estimated that, on average, his hybrids occupied about 30% total arable land in Yunnan province of China since 2000. Furthermore, he carried out many applied basic researches such as maize transgenic and heterotic grouping studies and thus published 80 articles on international and domestic journals, of which 14 papers were published on international SCI journal. He published two monographs.
