Abstract

This comprehensive review explores the recent advances in the specialized medical fields of otology and rhinology, focusing on groundbreaking developments in diagnostics, surgical techniques, and therapeutic interventions. In the realm of diagnostics, high-resolution imaging techniques such as cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have revolutionized our ability to visualize intricate anatomical structures, enhancing precision in diagnosis and treatment planning. Electrophysiological advancements, including otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and auditory brainstem response (ABR), have played a pivotal role in assessing auditory function, especially in challenging populations like neonates and individuals with communication difficulties. Surgical approaches in otology and rhinology have witnessed a transformative shift towards minimally invasive procedures, driven by endoscopic techniques that not only reduce patient morbidity but also enhance surgical precision. The integration of robotics into otolaryngological surgeries introduces a new dimension of dexterity and accuracy, particularly in delicate procedures such as cochlear implantation and skull base surgery.
