Abstract

Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) is the final stage of heart disease and can be caused by a variety of factors in clinical practice. Unfortunately, CHF has a poor prognosis and a high mortality rate. Recent studies have found that aging is a significant risk factor for developing CHF and that cellular senescence plays a vital role in its development. Therefore, this article reviews the role and therapeutic progress of cellular senescence in CHF from different types of cellular senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction in senescent cells, autophagy in senescent cells, and Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP), to provide new perspectives on the research and treatment of CHF.

Keywords: Chronic heart failure; Senescence-associated secretory phenotype; Mitochondrial dysfunction; 2’-deoxyadenosine
