Abstract
T he present study explored the relationship between perceived stigmatization and treatment motivation in persons with substance use disorder. It was hypothesized that there is likely to be a relationship between perceived stigmatization and treatment motivation in persons with substance use disorder. Correlational research design was employed and purposive sampling was used to draw a sample of 80 patients from the Addiction Recovery clinics located in Lahore, Pakistan. Self made demographic Information sheet, the Perceived stigma of substance use scale (PSSAS) (Luoma, 2010) and TCU Treatment Motivation Scale (TCU) was used to assess demographic information, perceived stigmatization and treatment motivation respectively. The results revealed a significant relationship between perceived stigmatization and external pressure scale of treatment motivation in persons with substance use disorder. These findings may aid in the contribution of creating awareness related to the relationship of perceived stigmatization and increased motivation for treatment on external pressure aspects and realizing the importance of treatment to family members and also to the patients as well increasing treatment motivation and decreasing perceived stigmatization in persons with substance use disorderBiography
